Taylor-Joy quit school when she was 16 years old to pursue a career acting. Taylor-Joy was born April 16 1996 at Miami Florida. Half English and half Spanish her parents are Dennis Alan Taylor a former banker as well as Jennifer Marina Joy a psychologist. She is an Argentinean who has Scottish, English and Argentinean descendance. Her mother is Spanish-English. Taylor Joy is the youngest of four brothers and sisters, with one coming in each parent's previous marriages. Buenos Aires was her home until she turned 6, when the family relocated into Victoria in London. Taylor Joy said the move from Buenos Aires, to Victoria was tough and she didn't take the time to learn English and was hoping to go back to Argentina. Hill House became her school that she chose after being forced to change schools. Then she enrolled in Queen's Gate School and studied ballet while acting in the school's plays. At the age of 16, she quit school, Taylor-Joy pursued a full-time acting profession. Taylor-Joy was always aware that she wanted to become an actor. She achieved this when Sarah Doukas founder of Storm Management provided Taylor-Joy with the opportunity of modeling.
